NATIONAL PARK CHALLENGE

Participants take on the role of an international team of experts tasked with establishing a national park.

The goal is to meet the requirements for recognition as an IUCN Category II national park by successfully completing a wide variety of tasks and challenges.

At each station, challenges must be overcome, conflicts resolved, resources protected, and sustainable decisions made.

Ultimately, it is the overall performance that determines whether the area can be officially recognized as a national park.

Game Concept

Working in teams, the participants complete a total of eight stations that represent different aspects of national park work.
Each station features active challenges, team tasks, puzzles, and elements of skill or strategy.
Teams earn points for each station they complete. The following criteria, among others, are evaluated:
Teamwork
Creativity
Speed
Dexterity
Expertise
At the end, the total points will be tallied, the top-performing teams will be recognized, and a summary will be presented.

Schedule: Eight stations are completed one after another—with a maximum of 20 minutes allotted for each station. There is a team score, and the overall results are also presented accordingly. The awards ceremony and final presentation take place in the evening.

As a research team, we are allowed to enter the core zone on an exceptional basis. This is only possible by water. Research boats are standing by. Which and how many rare species can we find? Could there even be an undiscovered species among them?
Biodiversity – Plants, Animals, Habitats: Obstacle Course & Game
The teams must maintain the stability of a fragile ecosystem and respond to changing environmental conditions without endangering biodiversity.
Marketing & National Park Logo: Design Station or Creative Station with Animals
Creativity and quick decision-making are key: Teams develop a national park logo with the help of animals.
Agriculture, Tourism, and Other Stakeholders: Game, Remote Control
The management of resources, waste, and visitor flows is pushing the protected area to its limits. What measures have what effects?
Research & Science: Experiment.
A scientific hypothesis must be proven through experimentation.

The Goal
The goal of the “National Park Challenge” is to bring the concept of an IUCN Category II national park to life in a playful, action-packed, and team-oriented way.
The focus is on collaboration, strategic thinking, communication, and fun—combined with the core themes of a modern national park: sustainability, biodiversity, habitat conservation, and the responsible management of nature and resources.
Participants experience just how diverse, challenging, and relevant national park work is today and can apply these insights to their company’s ESG goals.

Location
The grounds of St. Martins Therme & Lodge offer privacy, beautiful natural surroundings, and plenty of space all in one. This place is a biodiversity hotspot and is reserved exclusively for guests.
